Madeline Ketner
Animal Science PhD student, Adcock lab
Madeline joined the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences as a PhD student in the Adcock Lab in Spring 2025. She is conducting research examining how tail-docking effects social networks and behaviors in lambs. Additionally, she is examining tail-docking would progression pain sensitivity following the procedure.
Madeline is from Greensboro, North Carolina. She earned her B.A. in Animal Studies and Psychology From Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she served as lab manager for the Eckerd College Comparative Psychology Lab and was a member of the Frick Animal Behavior Lab. Her research in college focused on captive animal behavior and welfare, specifically in the zoo and aquarium setting. She most recently completed her MsC in Applied Animal Behavior and Welfare at the University of Edinburgh. Her dissertation examined the effects of odorized enrichment in domestic pigs. Madeline looks forward to working with a new species and continuing to conduct research that contributes to the improvement of animal welfare.
