Rekia joined the Van Os lab in the summer of 2018 and successfully defended her Masters in Dairy Science in June, 2020. Her Masters thesis research investigated milk- and starter-feeding strategies to mitigate undesirable oral behaviors in pair-housed calves, particularly cross sucking.
In Fall, 2020, she worked with the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center through the HACU National Internship Program and was also a part-time Research Specialist with the Van Os lab.
As of 2021, Rekia is now employed with the U.S.D.A. National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) as a Program Specialist.
