Rekia Salter
Research Specialist, Van Os lab (former)
Rekia joined the Van Os lab in the summer of 2018 and successfully defended her Masters in Dairy Science in June, 2020. Her Masters thesis research investigated milk- and starter-feeding strategies to mitigate undesirable oral behaviors in pair-housed calves, particularly cross sucking.
In Fall, 2020, she worked with the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center through the HACU National Internship Program and was also a part-time Research Specialist with the Van Os lab.
As of 2021, Rekia is now employed with the U.S.D.A. National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) as a Program Specialist.
